  • Naomi Fischer-Rasmussen was a state and national champion in karate kumite until she was 19 when she decided to take up boxing to add an extra element to her karate skills.
  • Fischer-Rasmussen placed fifth at the 2008 Women's World Championships in Ningbo City in the U/66kg division.
  • She equalled her fifth place performance at the 2010 Women's World Championships in Barbados in the U/69kg division.
  • Fischer-Rasmussen was ranked world number one in 2011 based upon points accumulated in international competition in 2010. She made the move up to the 75kg division in 2010 after it was announced that it was one of three weight divisions that would be introduced to Olympic competition in London.
  • After having a first round bye, Fischer-Rasmussen beat South Korea's Shinhyeong Kim 22-9 securing her a spot on the Olympic team as she was the highest ranked boxer left from Oceania. She went on to finish ninth.
