  • Khalen Young made his first senior Australian team for the 2002 World Championships in Brazil. Not long after, at the age of 20, Young quit BMX. After a four year hiatus from the sport he made a comeback when it was announced as part of the Olympic program for Beijing 2008. He moved to California where he was able to make BMX a career and live off it financially.
  • In 2007 he won the opening round of the World Cup Supercross and the Australian National championships. At the 2007 World Championships in Victoria, Canada, Young won silver after just 10 months back racing - his best World Championships result to date.
  • Young's wife gave birth to their daughter Riley in 2008. Young withdrew from the world titles in May 2008 to be there for the birth and unfortunately then missed selection to the Olympic Team.
  • 2011 saw Young win silver at the World Cup in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa - his top result of the year.
  • Young grew up in the Western Australian town of Kalgoorlie and started riding BMX bikes because his older brothers did it. He is indigenous and the second youngest of six kids. His grandmother's family was part of the the aboriginal "stolen generation".
