- Western Australian Todd Skipworth was 23 when he made his Olympic debut in 2008. He rowed in the men's lightweight four that finished in 9th place.
- After Beijing he took a year off rowing and competed in some Ironman distance triathlons, including the renowned Hawaii Ironman, something he plans to try and achieve again in 2013.
- A veteran of five World Championships, Skipworth won gold in 2011 as part of the men's lightweight four, the first time Australia had won gold in the division since 1981. It was his second medal at World Championship level having won silver in 2010.
- At the 2012 National Championships, the men's lightweight four crew of Skipworth, Anthony Edwards, Ben Cureton and Sam Beltz cemented their Olympic selection after upstaging the heavyweight four in the final.
- At the 2005 Australian Youth Olympic Festival, Skipworth won three medals from three races - gold (eight), gold (four) and silver (pair).
