- Sally Foster swam an incredible race to win a spot on the 2012 Olympic Team. Foster and Tessa Wallace mowed down a flying Leisel Jones in the final lap of the 200m breaststroke to book their places at the Games. Wallace touched first in 2:26.31 and Foster came 2nd in 2:26.51 to snare her second Olympic berth.
- Foster made her Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. She progressed to the semi-finals in the 200m breaststroke and narrowly missing the final, finishing ninth.
- Last year Foster went into the World Championships in Shanghai as the National 200m Breaststroke Champion and she finished 12th in the event.
- At the 2009 World Championships, Foster took home a silver and a bronze medal as a heat swimmer in the 4x100m medley relay and 4x100m freestyle relay respectively. She was also 15th in the 200m breaststroke.
- Sally's great aunt represented Australia in swimming at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. It was an epic voyage for the Australian team going to Berlin - a six week ocean journey by ship. Training included holding each others feet whilst swimming in a small pool (approx 10m). Sally's mother was also a National Champion in swimming, and just missed out on selection in 1976 Games.
