- Robyn Van Nus began shooting to help with her recovery from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Her mother Tricia, a former Australian representative, began coaching her and soon realised she may have a future in the sport as she did.
- Van Nus made her Olympic debut in 2008 in Beijing after just missing the team for Athens four years earlier. She competed for Australia in both the 3 positions and 10m air rifle where she finished 40th and 44th respectively.
- Shooting at her first Commonwealth Games in 2010, Van Nus had a shaky start to her competition as her gun and the rest of her equipment was lost in transit to Delhi. She managed to overcome the early hurdle to win bronze in the 3p event, 4th in the 3p pairs event and 13th and 6th in the 10m air rifle individual and pairs event.
- In 2011, Van Nus set a new Australian record when she shot 398 from 400 in the 10m air rifle at the Australia Cup 3 event as she knocked off her own personal best by two targets. She continued her consistent form when she took out the 3p event at the 2011 Oceania Championships along with a 5th place finish in the 10m air rifle.
- Kicking off the Olympic year with a bang, Van Nus claimed 1st place finishes in all but one of the six events she competed in, where she came 2nd, at the opening two Australia Cup events of 2012 to put her on track for a strong Olympic year. Tricia Van Nus, Robyn's mother, represented Australia in shooting around the globe in a host of World Championships and international events before retiring from international competition in the early 80s.
