2018 Sting Squad Announced

Published On: 8 March 2018

A number of WAIS netball athletes have been selected in the 2018 Western Sting squad in preparation for the start of the season, in May.

Sunday, Aryang, Natalie Bright, Olivia Lewis and Helen Taylor have all been reselected whilst Sloan Burton and Courtney Kruta appear in the squad for the first time, off the back of strong performances throughout pre-season.

Coming off their maiden premiership win in 2017, the side will be looking to go back-to-back and once again bring home the premiership title.

Featuring ten of the 14 athletes from last year’s squad, the side will carry both strength and experience in to the new year.

West Coast Fever Executive Officer, Tamara Sheppard said “we have once again selected a well-balanced side, with a number of up and coming young players, complemented by athletes who have been in the high performance environment for a number of years.”

“These athletes are products of the Netball WA Athlete Pathway, so it’s pleasing to see the level of talent within our State.”

“We’re extremely excited about the upcoming season, and look forward to the Sting working toward another finals appearance.”

The season will commence on the 5th of May when the Western Sting take on the Tasmanian Magpies at the State Netball Centre.
