Peter Bol, Chad Perris and Madison de Rozario were all in impressive form as the Coles Summer Super Series began in Canberra.

Bol set a new personal best of 1min 47.01secs in the 800 metre as he continues his quest to represent Australia at a second Olympic Games in Tokyo.

While Perris stopped the clock in 10.71secs in the 100m ambulatory, which would have set a new Oceania Record by two hundreths of a second if not for an illegal +2.2 wind.

In the 800m wheelchair there was no stopping Madison de Rozario who claimed the win in 1min 46.68secs, just shy of her world record personal best. De Rozario who has already been selected to the Australian Paralympic Team, in what will be her fourth Games continues to improve.

“We’re  doing a lot of practice in trying to run a race without having to rely on competitors tactically, which is really new territory for us. How we plan races is based on who is competing and their strengths and weaknesses, but now it’s about what the best race looks like for me physically for each event from the 800m through to the 5000m,” she said.

“It’s really nice to be back in Canberra and start with this win, especially after a year without racing. To start 2021 with a lot of domestic races is really, really good.”
