WAIS scholarship holders Ashleigh Brazill and Kate Beveridge have been named in Australia’s 10-strong FAST5 squad for this year’s World Series in New Zealand.

The West Coast Fever club members were selected for the fast and furious format of international netball ahead of the championships to be held in Auckland from November 8-9.

Australian FAST5 Flyers coach Jane Searle said she expected the Australian team to challenge for the title.

“We’ve picked a well-balanced side, a team that boasts a wealth of experience against the world’s best players in the ANZ Championship,” she said.

“We’re a team that has experienced finals pressures which will bode well for this year’s tournament, there are no second chances so we need to come out firing from the start and I believe we’re capable of goinga step further this year.”

FAST5 selection for Brazill comes after an injury interrupted year that saw her restricted by a wrist injury that cut short her 2014 ANZ Championship campaign. Brazill will feature for the Western Sting in the Australian Netball League as she builds back to full fitness.

FAST5 Selection for Beveridge will see the talented shooter return to the International fold having previously earned 16 caps for the Australian Diamonds.

The 2014 FAST5 Netball World Series will be held at Vector Arena, Auckland, from November 8-9.
