Brown Earns Career First World Championship Final

Published On: 11 December 2018

Nicholas Brown has qualified for the final of the men’s 200m fly at the 2018 FINA World Short Course Championships in China.

In his debut senior team appearance for the Australian Dolphins, Brown snuck into the final after recording the eighth fastest time overall at the completion of the morning heats.

He’ll race in a first career World Championship final this evening, with Japan’s Daiya Seto the fastest qualifier.

Brown clocked a time of 1:52.15 in finishing third in heat two and then had to wait nervously as two further heats were raced, to discover if his time would get him through.

The 22 year-old is the son of Olympic swimmer Ian Brown who competed at both the Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games.

Brown is joined on the Dolphins team by fellow West Australian Holly Barratt – who was a member of the Australian team at this year’s Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

The Short Course titles run from December 11 to December 16 and results can be followed via the FINA website.
