WAIS netball athlete Madison Browne has capped her fourth Test appearance for the Australian Diamonds with a best on court performance as the tourists levelled their three Test series at 1-1.

Having suffered their first defeat from England in 29 years in Liverpool two days earlier, Australia jumped out of the blocks in the first quarter to take a 13-7 stoppage lead with Browne prominent from the start.

The feisty wing attack showed plenty of poise and pressure, with fellow WAIS scholarship holder Kate Beveridge the beneficiary hitting 31 goals at 82 percent.

Australia’s early dominance proved pivotal as the sides shadow boxed for much of the remainder, with the Diamonds defence able to just keep the hosts at arms length.

The five goal win has put Australia back into frame for a series win, with the third and final Test to be played at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday evening (Wednesday morning Perth time).

Diamonds coach Norma Plummer was full in her praise of the diminutive Browne, whilst the tall and accurate Beveridge also caught her eye.

“Madison is a little dynamite isn’t she? She is a player of the future and takes every opportunity. This kid just wants to play,” she said.

“She (Browne) exploited them with her speed and ability and I am really for her to be named player of the match.”

“I thought Beveridge was outstanding with her long shots, while Medhurst tonight pulled it together. Between them they did a great job.”
