Competitive Start for WAIS Netball Squad

The WAIS Development Netball team played their opening game in the Smarter than Smoking Premier League on the weekend.

Against early season favourites, West Coast Falcons, the WAIS team was highly competitive. The game went goal for goal until the final 8 minutes where unforced errors and inability to deliver the ball to the shooters ended up proving costly. The Falcons took the opportunity to close out the game on top. The final score was 52 to 43.

All WAIS players contributed to the team performance. Sarah Tatam continued her good form from Nationals by creating many intercepts and applying constant pressure on the Falcons shooters. Improved performances were noted from Briony Carlyon, Sarah East and Natalie Moeahu-pehi. Unfortunately, after shooting with 100% accuracy in the second quarter, Sarah East suffered an ankle injury in the third.
