The Kookaburras have finished their pool games in Delhi with a 7-0 win over Malaysia, setting up a semi final clash with New Zealand on Tuesday.

Ric Charlesworth’s side are so far undefeated in the Commonwealth Games tournament, having scored an impressive 22 goals and conceded only two in their four matches.

In Sunday’s match against Malaysia they poured on four goals inside the first 20 minutes of the match before taking their foot off the pedal and putting three in the back of the net in the second half.

Luke Doerner continued his good penalty corner form with a hat trick, taking his tournament best total to six goals. WAIS athlete Trent Mitton was in the thick of the action in the penalty circle but couldn’t add to his tournament tally of two goals.

Fellow WAIS athlete Fergus Kavanagh didn’t have much to do in deep defence with the Australians controlling the game from the outset.

A win against New Zealand in Tuesday’s semi final will see the Kookaburras play for the gold medal against either England or host nation India in Thursday’s final.
