WAIS swimmer Blair Evans has completed her European Mare Nostrum Series in Canet, France over the weekend with two silver medals taking her overall tally to five.

The City of Perth swimmer claimed silver in the 800m freestyle in a time of 8:33.25mins, finishing behind Frenchwoman Coralie Balmy.

Evans’ marathon event list extended to the 200m freestyle with the 19 year-old placing tenth in a time of 2:01.17mins.

The Evans medal collection was completed with a third silver, this time in the 400m freestyle as Evans touched home half a second behind France’s Camille Muffat. Evans’s time of 4:07.66mins edged out Balmy – who settled for third.

WAIS Swimming Performance Manager Greg Hodge said Evans’ results were impressive for the national 200m freestyle champion, particularly since they were recorded without taper and in full training.

Evans finished the three leg Mare Nostrum Series (Monaco, Barcelona and Canet) with two gold and three silver.

Having won a total of 26 medals over the six days of competition the majority of the 10-swimmer Australian team will now return home to prepare for the Telstra Australian Short Course Championships to be held in Brisbane from July 14-18.
