Evans Fastest Qualifier for 400m IM Final

Western Australian Institute of Sport swimmers Blair Evans and Travis Nederpelt have set the fastest times for tonight’s 400m Individual Medley finals at the 2012 Australian Swimming Championships in Adelaide.

City of Perth club member Blair Evans up-staged Olympic and World record holder Stephanie Rice, clocking 4:42.54mins to advance to tonight’s final where a top two place will earn her Olympic nomination for London.

Evans’ time bettered marks set by Sam Hamill (4:44.11) and Amy Levings (4:44.65), whilst Rice was fourth fastest qualifier in 4:45.70mins.

Whilst in the men’s event, dual Olympian Travis Nederpelt touched home fastest in a time of 4:20.57mins to lead qualification ahead of Thomas Fraser-Holmes (4:20.73), Stephen Parkes (4:22.62) and Daniel Tranter (4:23.05).
