The Melbourne Vixens put on a clinical performance to celebrate their first home game of the season with a 70-39 victory over the West Coast Fever last Saturday afternoon.

Disappointed by their loss to the Mystics the week before, the Vixens dominated from the outset as they recorded 18-goals in the first stanza to take an eight goal lead into the second quarter.

Vixens’ Geva Mentor, Bianca Chatfield and Renee Hallinan shut down the dangerous WAIS athlete Caitlin Bassett under the hoop as the Fever struggled to find their attacking options.

With the result beyond doubt going into half time, the loudest cheer was reserved for Julie Corletto who made her much anticipated return to the court following three knee operations in the last 16 months.

The home side had the luxury of giving all 12 of their players court time which made little difference as the Vixens extended their 14-goal halftime lead by two heading into the fourth quarter.

The Fever could do little as the Vixens stormed home to the 31-goal victory to the delight of the home crowd.
