The Australian Diamonds have completed a 69-34 win over Trinidad and Tobago in their Commonwealth Games Pool B match this evening.

The Diamonds head into their rest day with four wins from four starts, with their next match against South Africa on July 30. Should they win this, they are through to the semi finals for a shot at the medals in Glasgow.

Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander again chose to start with Caitlin Thwaites and Tegan Caldwell, over Western Australian pair Caitlin Bassett and Natalie Medhurst, with concerns about the workload for her squad, following a bust first half to their Glasgow campaign.

The squad rotations appeared to play their part in a sluggish opening quarter from the Australians, with the team failing to get out of first gear early, before eventually drawing out to a 16-9 lead at quarter time.

A quarter time rev up from Alexander had the desired effect, with Australia far more efficient in the second term, winning it 22-5, to hold a match winning 38-14 lead at the half time break.

Bassett and Medhurst entered the play during the second half as Alexander rung the changes, no doubt with list management in mind, heading into the rest day.

Bassett shot 21 goals at 91% during her stint on court, with Medhurst adding 10 goals of her own.

The Diamonds match with South Africa will commence from 4.30pm Perth time on Day 7.
