#Glasgow2014: Gold for D’Orsogna in 4x100m Freestyle Relay

Western Australian Tommaso D’Orsogna has won gold as a member of the Australian men’s 4 x 100m freestyle relay squad at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

The Australian team of D’Orsogna, Matt Abood, James Magnussen and Cameron McEvoy posted a time of 3:13.44 for gold in a Commonwealth Games record-breaking time, to win ahead of South Africa and England.

D’Orsogna swam the lead leg for Australia, returning a time of 49.26 to hand Australia second place heading into Abood’s follow up leg.

Australia held silver medal position until Magnussen cut the margin handing over to McEvoy who swam Australia into the lead at the wall for Commonwealth gold.

Australia qualified for the final in the morning heats, with Abood competing alongside, Ned McKendrick, Kenneth To and Jayden Hadler.

South Africa finished with silver in 3:15.17, whilst England clocked 3:16.37 for bronze.
