WA’s Ella Pardy has finished ninth in the women’s Para-sport long jump T37/38 at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games after a best jump of 3.62m at Hampden Park.

With the top eight qualifying for three more jumps, Pardy narrowly missed the threshold, in ninth place, with gold going to her Australian teammate Jodi Elkington who jumped a personal best 4.39m.

Silver went to Woodward of England, with bronze claimed by Namibia’s Benson.

Glasgow was Pardy’s debut at Commonwealth Games level, with the 23 year-old the first of eight Western Australians set to take action for Australia in the track and field.

Pole vaulters Liz and Vicky Parnov, hurdler Shannon McCann, 400m relay runner Lyndsay Pekin, high jumper Zoe Timmers, wheelchair racer Maddison de Rozario and javelin thrower Kim Mickle will all be in action over the next week.
