WAIS gymnast Olivia Vivian has produced one of the best performances of her long career to finish fifth in the final of the women’s artistic all around competition at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

A day after winning a silver medal as a member of Australia’s successful team squad, Vivian was back in action competing in the women’s all around.

Vivian returned scores of 13.366 on floor, 12.466 on vault, 13.800 on bars and 13.000 on beam for an overall total of 52.632 which was good enough for fifth place.

England dominated the final, sweeping each of the medal positions, with gold going to Claudia Fragapane (56.132), with Vivian’s Australian teammate Georgia Rose Brown finishing 13th (50.598).

Vivian, a noted bars specialist, unsurprisingly saved her best for this apparatus, producing a highly impressive routine to return her highest score in this event from her four apparatus.

Glasgow has been the 25 year-old’s first Commonwealth campaign, having also competed for Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Her WA teammate Lauren Mitchell will feature in Friday’s floor and beam individual finals.
