Grand Prix Success for Hains in Malaysia

WA diver Nikita Hains has won a silver medal competing at the Malaysian Grand Prix event in Kuala Lumpur.

Having last week earned nomination for the 2017 WAIS Junior Athlete of the Year award, Hains provided further evidence of her talents, taking silver in the 10m synchro final and fifth in the individual 10m platform final.

Hains, partnered Emily Boyd in the synchro with the duo recording a total score of 280.68 for second place behind the home nation pairing of Mung Yee Leong and Pandelela Pamg (311.28).

 

In the individual competition, Hains produced her best dive in the first round, registering 60.80 points to hold third rank.

She would eventually finish in fifth position with a total score of 264.50 with gold going to China’s Jiaqi Zhang – who amassed 409.85 points for victory in an outstanding display.
