WAIS slalom canoe athlete Robin Jeffery is aiming to make up for a missed opportunity at World Cup 1, when he lines up at this weekend’s World Cup 2 in Poland.

Jeffery produced a quick time in his semi final in the Czech Republic (WC1) but was hindered by two gate touches that added four seconds onto his raw time that consequently pushed him out of finals contention.

The 2012 Olympian however, is aiming for another crack at World Cup 2, albeit against a world class field that will include reigning world cup champion and slalom legend, Michal Martikan.

Jeffery has switched his focus purely to the C1 boat for the 2015 international season, and said that his work with a new coach was starting to pay dividends.

“It’s been a big learning curve over the last year, and this year moving on with Stu Mac (McIntosh) as coach and firing, I have got my forward stroke happening and have just got that good race plan now,” Jeffery said.

Aside from Martikan, Jeffery will have to fend off a high quality start list that also includes world cup one medal winners Stanislav Jezek (CZE), Benjamin Savsek (SLO) and David Florence (GBR).

Racing gets under way from 3pm Perth time, Friday afternoon. Further details can be found at the World Cup website.
