#Kazan2015 | Throssell Qualifies for 200m Fly Final

WAIS swimmer Brianna Throssell has qualified for tonight’s women’s 200m fly final at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

Throssell set the equal sixth fastest time, to progress to the final, with fellow Australian swimmer Madeline Groves finishing agonisingly, one place out of the final in ninth.

Competing at a her first senior long-course world championships, Throssell was reserved in the heats, posting the 12thfastest time, before hitting her straps to post a time of 2:07.57 in the semis to earn a berth in the final.

The City of Perth swimmer will compete from lane one, and will look to challenge her personal best, which currently sits at 2:06.60.

Throssell thanked her fans and supporters through social media, with a post that read in part, “Thank you to everyone for your messages of support, it is greatly appreciated.”

The WA star will be in action at 11pm Perth time tonight.

The Australian Swim Team currently holds three gold medals, with one silver and two bronze.
