WAIS paddlers Lachlan Armstrong and Yale Steinepreis have been selected to Senior World Cup and World Championship Team.

After two years without international competition both will be keen to impress on the world stage at their debut elite competition. Armstrong was selected in the 2021 team, however the Australian Team was unable to travel due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Their National Team selection continues a strong start to 2022 for Armstrong and Steinepreis who both graduated from the WAIS program to the Paddle Australia National Centre of Excellence in January.

PA National Performance Director Kim Crane congratulated the athletes on their selection.

“I am very pleased to be able to present the 21 athletes who have today been named on their respective national teams for 2022,” said Paddle Australia National Performance Director Kim Crane Crane.

“After two years of limited international competition, 2022 is set to be jam packed with our athletes to compete on the ICF World Cup circuit, Senior World Championships and U23 World Championships across Europe and Canada.

“Nothing replaces international race experience, so our athletes will be keen to test themselves.

“Working closely with these athletes in the next few months before they head overseas to proudly fly the Australian flag, we see the commitment, resilience, and work ethic – it’s inspirational.
