Luke Durbridge and Jai Hindley named in Australian Team for World Championships

Western Australian cyclists Luke Durbridge and Jai Hindley have been selected in the 14-member Australian Team for the 2020 UCI Road World Championships in Imola, Italy, 24-27 September.

29-year-old Durbridge, the reigning Australian time trial champion will compete in the time trial and road race. In the time trial Durbridge will line up in one of the strongest fields in years including defending champion and teammate Rohan Dennis.

Hindley will make his elite world championship debut at 24, in the road race, with the Australian Team full of options including former medallist Michael Matthews, recent Tour de France podium finisher Richie Porte and one day specialist and top 10 finisher Simon Clarke.

“2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, and these World Championships will be nothing like we have seen before,” said Steve Drake, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Cycling Australia.

“We have selected two strong teams that will provide a number of options on race day on what will prove to be testing courses.”
