Meyer Brother Win Inaugural Perth Madison Cup

WAIS-AIS athletes Cameron and Travis Meyer claimed the inaugural hosting of the Perth Madison Cup at the Midvale SpeedDome last weekend.

The Helena Valley boys proved too good for the field, holding off WAIS juniors Brad Lindfield and Theo Yates.

Cameron Meyer backed up his madison title with an easy win in the Armadale Cycle Classic last Sunday, lapping the field to claim line honours. Travis Meyer, still rebuilding fitness from a recent leg injury, took third place.

Raced around the picturesque Minniwarra Park as part of the Highlands Festival in the City of Armadale, Cameron Meyer was a convincing winner, which came as no surprise given the multiple track world champion and U23 Road World Championship medallist is also the reigning Tour Down Under champion.

In the women’s race, Bella King made it a WAIS double, after outsprinting her competition to the line. Fellow WAIS scholarship holder Elissa Wundersitz placed third.

This week sees the domestic action turn to Kalamunda for the Tour de Perth, which consists of a criterium on Friday, road race on Saturday and time-trial on Sunday, with strong WAIS representation expected in both men’s and women’s racing.
