Meyer Named on Track World Cup Team

Western Australian cyclist, Cameron Meyer has been named as part of Australia’s Track World Cup team ahead of the opening rounds of the UCI Track World Cup in November.

The 10-rider team will fly to Glasgow, Scotland to compete in the first round of the competition from the 4th to the 6th of November.

Meyer will be returning to the track for the first time following the announcement of his retirement from road racing in June.

After competing on road cycling teams for a number of years, Meyer announced his retirement earlier this year based on undisclosed personal reasons.

His road career saw him compete as a member of the Garmin-Slipstream team, the Orica-GreenEDGE team and Team Dimension Data, taking part in races such as the Tour de France and the Tour Down Under.

A six time World Champion, he now finds himself returning to the track racing as a member of Australia’s Track World Cup team.

He will compete in the endurance side of the competition alongside fellow Australians, Callum Scotson and Rohan Wight.

Competing as part of a team bursting with young talent, Meyer will be able to bring his high level of experience and achievement to the young group.

Australia has selected their team with an eye on the 2018 Commonwealth Games, on the Gold Coast, as well as to develop riders for the 2020 Japan Olympic Games.
