Clay Worthington was honoured at the Cycling Australia Awards

Western Australian Institute of Sport Cycling coach Clay Worthington has received a significant honour after being named Cycling Australia’s Coach of the Year at the 2013 Award Nights in Melbourne.

Worthington was named Coach of the Year after spearheading the Australian Junior World Championship sprint group that dominated the floor boards at this year’s Championships in Glasgow.

Australia topped the medal table at the event with six gold medals, with Worthington assisting WAIS athlete Tian Beckett to a gold in the women’s team sprint and bronze in the 500m time trial.

Separate to Beckett’s efforts, Worthington also coached the Australian men’s team sprint group to a junior world championship title, ensuring five athletes returned home to Australia with rainbow jerseys.
