WAIS sailors earn top places across all categories in the 420 National and National Youth Championships here in Fremantle, Western Australia.

After a fantastic effort, Emerson Carlberg and Lachy Gilmour are the 2014/2015 420 Mens National Champions and overall Champions. The pair finished top three in eight of the twelve races to secure the win with a total of 22 net points.

Despite fairly windy conditions, Nia Jerwood and Lisa Smith won the Womens 420 National Champion title in the building seabreeze off Fremantle Sailing Club.

Youth sailors Alistair Young and Conor Nicholas finished 1stand 3rd respectfully in the Laser Radical class with Young barely sneaking past fellow WA sailor Tristan Brown to win by 2 net points.

In the 49er FX open division, Caitlin Elks and Tess Lloyd finished 2nd overall and were the first females to take out a 49er FX Womens National Title. The Victorian pair finished on a total score of 47 net points, only 10 away from first place, and 24 ahead of West Australians Monique DeVries and Danielle Carr.

David Gilmour and Rhys Mara worked hard on their tuning in the 49er Class to improve through the regatta to finish 2nd to Queensland team, Joel Turner and Lewis Brake.
