Sullivan won the 100m freestyle on Saturday (June 14) against a strong international field including Stefan Nystrand, Nabil Kebbab and Cesar Cielo. Sullivan touched home in 48.60sec. to finish convincingly clear of Nystrand (49.12) and Kebbab (49.20).

Sullivan backed up with a fifth win from six swims on Sunday, beating another strong field in the 50m freestyle. Sullivan clocked 21.84sec. again edging out Swede rival Nystrand (22.22) and South African Gerhard Zandberg (22.53).

Sullivan was pleased with his form, despite the draining tour.

“I tried to swim as fast as possible despite the signals my body was giving me,” Sullivan said.

“So I’ve even more the feeling of having achieved more of a moral than physical victory…and now I can’t wait to return to Australia.”

Sullivan’s WAIS training partner, Garth Kates finished fourth in the 100m butterfly, again providing proof of his future potential.
