The West Coast Fever has been defeated 52-44 in its second round ANZ Championship clash away to the Canterbury Tactix at the Westpac Arena in Christchurch.

The Fever made a bright start and led at the first break by a single goal to hold a 13-14 advantage. From that point on the Tactix wore down the Fever before making a decisive break in the final quarter, going on a 10-1 run to record a strong win over the Western Australian outfit.

WAIS scholarship holder and Australian Test representative Caitlin Bassett again showed her class shooting at 85% to hit 33 of 39 attempts.

Susan Fuhrmann, Josie Janz, Andrea Gilmore and Jasmine Keene – who all also hold WAIS scholarships – featured for the Fever.

The West Coast Fever now prepares for its first home game of the season on Monday April 20 where it will host the Northern Mystics. The match is scheduled for a 5:00pm start at Perth’s Challenge Stadium.
