Three Western Australians Named on Paralympic Swimming Team

Elite Athlete with a Disability (EAD) swimmers Katrina Porter, Jeremy McClure and Jeremy Tidy haveechoedthe efforts of their Western Australian Olympic counterparts by being named in the 34 strong Paralympic Swim Team over the weekend.

 

Jeremy McClureThe Western Australian Institute of Sport trio secured berths in Beijing after good performances at the Telstra Australian Swimming Championships which were completed at the Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre on Saturday night. 19-year old Porter and 20-year old McClure will represent Australia at Paralympic level for the second time, having both been members of the team in Athens in 2004, while for 20-year old Tidy it will behis debut appearance at a Paralympic Games.

 

Swimming coach Mel Tantrum, who works alongside WAIS swimming coach Grant Stoelwinder at West Coast Swimming Club and coaches Porter and McClure, has been named on the six person coaching staff.

 

The Beijing Paralympic Games will run from the 6th to 17th September 2008 and will feature 19 different sports.
