WAIS swimmer Brianna Throssell has claimed a pair of silver medals from the World Short Course Championships in Turkey with swims in the Australian 4x100m medley and freestyle relays.

The 16 year-old City of Perth club member, swam the heat of the 4x100m medley on Friday, with the final Australian team of Rachel Goh in backstroke, Sarah Katsoulis in the breaststroke, Marieke Guehrer swimming butterfly and freestyler Angie Bainbridge touching home in second from lane eight to claim the silver medal.

Throssell would add further success, including a swim in the final, of the women’s 4x100m freestyle, with the Australian team of Throssell, Bainbridge, Guehrer and Sally Foster swimming home in 3:32.90 for the silver medal.

Earlier in the meet, Throssell narrowly missed finals appearances in the 200m butterfly and the 100m freestyle, but impressively, she equalled her personal best in the 200m event.

The Short Course World Championships in Istanbul is Throssell’s first senior international team, with the WAIS youngster showing it is highly unlikely to be her last.
