Tomic recorded another victory in Holland

WAIS cyclist Josie Tomic has continued to perform well on the road in The Netherlands recording a victory in Obdam and a sixth place in Roden.

Tomic is on tour in The Netherlands with a group of promising young female riders, including fellow WAIS cyclist Sarah Kent, learning the ropes of international road racing under the guidance of coach Gary Sutton.

In the fourth race of the tour, held in Roden, the squad faced a 42 lap, 60km techinical day in the saddle. Up against 63 other riders the Australian group performed solidly, with Tomic earning a sixth place for the team.

Kent didn’t finish the race after being put in a tough situation early in the race, given too much work by the peloton with very little help.

The fifth race was the best effort from the team on the tour thus far.

Tomic claimed the victory with three other riders from the Australian squad finishing in the top 10. Kent finished in 23rd position out of the 50 starters.

A 60km ride in Obdam was raced in rainy conditions throughout, with Tomic and a group of five other riders breaking away from the field with about 20kms to ride.
