Tomic grabbed a first and second in road races in Holland

WAIS/AIS cyclist Josie Tomic has started her stint in The Netherlands with two good results in one day races over the past week.

Tomic, who left for Europe with fellow WAIS/AIS rider Sarah Kent last week, claimed a victory and a second place in the two road events held in Zwijndrecht and Leiderdorp respectively.

The Ominium World Champion defeated 64 other riders in the 60km race in Zwijndrecht, attacking with two kilometres to go and going on to be first across the line. Kent was given the day off by coach Gary Sutton after coming down with a mild cold.

The field for the second race in Leiderdorp was smaller, with just 35 starters, but a tough course ensured that both Tomic and Kent were challenged. World Championship bronze medallist Kent did a great team ride to assist Tomic in crossing the line in second place in a time of one hour and 37 minutes.
