WA swimmers Alex Milligan and Nicholas Brown both recently represented Australia at the World University Games in Taipei.

A specialist breaststroke swimmer, Milligan achieved his strongest result in the 200m where he went head to head against reigning Olympic Champion Dmitriy Balandin.

Making it through to the semi-finals, the UWA student finished in a time of 2:13.37 giving him an 11th overall ranking.

He also raced in the 100m event where he finished 26th overall with a time of 1:02.38 whilst in the one lap event he finished 42nd overall in 29.32 seconds.

Like Milligan, butterfly specialist Brown also achieved his best result in the 200m distance, coming eighth in his semi-final in a time of 2:01.19 to finish 16th overall.

The 50m event saw Brown finish with the 52nd fastest mark after completing his heat in a time of 25.24 seconds.

Brown was unable to compete in the 100m event after he was struck down by a stomach bug preventing him from taking to the blocks.
