WA swimmers win 13 medals at Australian Short Course Championships

West Australian swimmers excelled at the 2019 Hancock Prospecting Australian Short Course Championships in Melbourne winning 13 medals.

In the freestyle sprint events Zac Incerti showed his return to form winning gold in the the 100m freestyle in 48.23secs, with fellow West Australian Ashton Brinkworth taking bronze. While in the 50m it was Brinkworth who stole the show with gold in 21.93secs.

Kat Downey impressed in the Multi-Class winning gold in the S10 100m backstroke and bronze in the S10 100m freestyle and S10 200m IM.

Distance speciallist Ben Roberts was also on fine form winning the 800m in 7mins 51.95secs, a second and a half clear of his closest rival. Over nearly twice the distance Roberts also found the podium in the 1500m claiming silver.

Butterfly man Nic Brown raced his way on to the podium with silver in the 200m and bronze in the 100m. Jackson Govers earned silver in the 200m freestyle in a sign of WA’s strength across the short, middle and distance freestyle events.

In the individual medley  Kieren Pollard found the podium twice, with silver in the 200m and bronze in the 400m.

Alex Millagn was consistent across the three days, narrowly missing a medal with fourth in the 200m breaststoke, fifth in the 100m IM, sixth in the 100m breaststroke and seventh in the 50m breaststroke.
