WAIS athletes produced some impressive results at last weekend’s 2008 International Track Grand Prix at the Midvale Speed Dome.

Beijing Olympian, Cam Meyer and Josie Tomic were the big performers on the night, both taking wins in strong fields.

Meyer competed in the Plan B 40 lap Open Men’s State Championship Scratch Race and claimed victory over fellow WAIS rider Luke Durbridge and Dutch cyclist van der Togt.

Tomic showed excellent stamina to win the Fleet Cycles 30 lap Open Women’s State Championship Scratch Race ahead of Hoskins and Summers before claiming victory in the women’s six lap group handicap race ahead of WAIS’ Sarah Kent and Dutch rider Van Dijk.

Meyer backed up for a second place finish in the Prestige Honda 25 lap Derny Race before claiming line honours in the Nevis Brook’s NuChange Building Points Race, with Durbridge again impressive in third.

The Dutch team claimed the Cyclemania women’s sprint challenge ahead of Australia and Malaysia, but the Australians claimed victory in the Glen Parker Cycles men sprint event over Malaysia.

WAIS athlete Scott Sunderland also achieved a podium finish after claiming third in the Community Newspaper Group men’s sprint challenge flying 200m event behind the Malaysian pair of Awang and Ng.
