The latest instalment of the 2015 National Road Series occurred in Adelaide last weekend, with a group of young WAIS men’s and women’s road cyclists competing.

Michael Storer recorded the highest general classification finish, narrowly missing a top ten position, after taking 11th place, 1.15min behind race winner Patrick Bevin (ART).

Bevin and his ART teammates dominated proceedings, winning three of the four stages, with Matthew Clark and Neil Van der Ploeg rounding out a clean sweep of the podium for the team.

Storer’s OTC colleagues and fellow WAIS athletes Reece Tucknott and Jai Hindley were 23rdand 28th respectively – whilst WAIS athlete Darcy Pirotta claimed a 38th position in the gc, riding for NSR.

Sam Welsford (NSR) didn’t finish.

In the women’s ranks, WAIS duo Elissa Wundersitz (NIC) and Jess Allen (WCV) both failed to finish, with Allen suffering a broken collarbone in a race fall, which she later joked as being her official entry into pro cycling, due to the proliferation of the injury in road cycling.

The women’s National Road Series crown in Adelaide went to Michaela Parsons (SPS) ahead of Kristy Glover (BSS) and Rebecca Wiasak (HFD).
