WAIS Rowers Heading for Munich

As the build up to Beijing continues, six of Australia’s eleven qualified rowing crews have headed for Germany to compete in the first or three European World Cup events, starting on 8 May.

WAIS rower Amber Bradley and her women’s quad crew will get there first taste of competitive action since the final selection trials last month in Penrith.

Bradley and fellow WAIS rowers Natalie Bale (women’s eight), Jeremy Stevenson (men’s eight) and David Dennis (men’s eight) were held up at Perth airport after flights were delayed for security purposes. As a result, the rowers arrived in Munich 24 hours later than the rest of the Australian squad.

Natalie Bale is a near certainty to row in the women’s eight after injuries to other squad members left her in pole position for a spot in Munich.

Jeremy Stevenson and David Dennis will compete in the men’s eight race in Munich, hoping to find form to carry through the World Cup events in Europe.
