The Australian National Rowing Championships are reaching the business end of proceedings from West Lakes in Adelaide with WAIS crews qualifying for a wide range of finals.

In the lightweight men’s pair, Olympians Todd Skipworth and Ben Cureton finished second in their heat to progress directly to the A final where they will come up against a very strong field, with Tasmania likely to pose the biggest threat.

In the U23 ranks Ashley Miles and Hannah Jansen won their semi final in the women’s pair to progress to Friday’s final. In the coxless four, Miles and Jansen featured, winning their heat to progress to Saturday’s final. In a busy schedule, the duo also featured in the eight, again winning through to Saturday’s final. Jansen will also compete in the single scull A final to be held on Friday after winning her heat.

Olympian Nat Bale withdrew from the women’s pair to concentrate on the single scull B final.

In the men’s U23 Tom Gatti and Brendan Murray have progressed to tomorrow’s A final in the men’s pair where they will be joined by fellow WAIS athletes Matthew Cochran and David Watts who finished second in their semi final.
