WAIS Shot Down by Bullets

The WAIS Development netball squad went down 31-48 against the Perth Bullets in last night’s WA Premier League match.

The Bullets led at every break and kept the youthful WAIS outfit under sustained pressure.

WAIS was missing a couple of players through injury but still managed to create defensive turnovers, but it was transition into attack that failed to yield significant reward.

Despite the reverse, WAIS mentor Michelle Wilkins believes the girls are developing collectively.

“A number of the girls are learning new positions, and it takes time for that gel as a team,” said Wilkins.

“Our girls are lacking experience and are often physically smaller than our opponents, however, the first round of matches is about our athletes learning under pressure.

“So long as they continue to develop as they are, we see the second round as the opportunity to see the girls have learnt from these experiences.”

Mia Washbourne played a consistent four quarters and was best a court for WAIS. The squad will prepare for their next assignment against the Demons the following week.
