Two of WA’s most promising rising stars Adelaide Hart and Tommy Sucipto have contributed to the staggering 12 gold medal haul by Australia’s young swimmers at the fourth Commonwealth Youth Games on the Isle of Man over the weekend.

Sucipto kicked off the first night of racing by picking up silver in the men’s 100m breaststroke, and later earning a second individual silver medal in the men’s 200m breaststroke.

Adelaide Hart won her first individual medal when she finished second in the 100m backstroke, and added a second silver in the 50m freestyle. Hart, however left the best til last when she cruised past England’s Phoebe Lenderyou to take out gold in the women’s 50m backstroke on the final night of competition.

The individual performances capped off an outstanding display of racing from WAIS young guns, who both took part in gold medal winning relays.

Hart picked up gold in the 4x100m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay teams while Sucipto claimed gold as part of the 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m medley relay teams.

Australia’s overall medal tally for the three day, seven-sport event was 29 gold, 28 silver and 17 bronze, placing them second on the overall table behind England (37G, 24S, 16B).
