Welsford, Meyer and Richardson selection for Track Cycling World Championships

Reigning World Champion Sam Welsford, nine-time world champion Cameron Meyer and rising star Matthew Richardson have been selected in the Australian Team for the 2020 UCI World Championships in Berlin, Germany.

Welsford who claimed scratch race and team pursuit titles in 2019 will head in as the most experienced member of the team pursuit line up as a three time world champion and Olympic silver medallist.

In the bunch races Cameron Meyer has made a name for himself as the best in the world in the points race and Madison and will be looking to increase his number of world titles to double figures.

Rising star Matt Richardson will feature in the team sprint. The Championships are the final event in the qualifying process for the Tokyo Olympic games with Australia well placed in the rankings for each event.

The 17-member Australian team includes 14 world champions with 12 of them defending champions.
