Western Australian Duo Pre-Selected for Australian National Teams

Cycling Australia has confirmed their pre-selections for the Australian National Teams, selecting two Western Australian future WorldTour stars in Jai Hindley and Michael Storer.

Whilst the pair have already been chosen, the full seven-rider rosters will be announced in mid-January following the MARS Road National Championships.

The current announcement confirmed that Hindley and Storer will ride alongside fellow 2016 Jayco World Tour Academy member Lucas Hamilton and Callum Scotson in the 2017 Santos Tour Down Under, racing for Team UniSA-Australia.

Following this, they will also race in the Jayco Herald Sun Tour.

Hindley and Storer, along with Hamilton, were also selected to contest the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and RACE MELBOURNE, competing as part of the Korda Mentha National Team.

Cycling Australia CEO Nicholas green OAM said “as the eyes of the world will be on Australia for the start of 2017 with three world-class events, our young guns are set to energise the peloton, and we are certain they will take this opportunity with both hands and give it their all.”

Green also stated the importance of the Australian National Team in providing a pathway for the developing generations of Australian road talent, saying it helps them to gain exposure as well as promotes them on the world stage.

“These events provide a tremendous opportunity for our next generation of stars to get a taste of racing at the highest level, against some of the very best in Australia and the world, and do so on home soil.”

Earlier this year, the Western Australian duo showed their talent on the International stage, competing in the Tour de l’Avenir where they both claimed top ten finishes, helping the Australian team to their first team classification win.

Following the announcement of the full seven-rider rosters the team will first compete at the 2017 Santos Tour Down Under from the 15th to the 22nd of January.
