The Perth Wheelcats have enjoyed a successful fortnight in the national wheelchair basketball league, recording doubleheader series wins over Sydney and Brisbane at the Herb Graham Recreation Centre in Perth.

WAIS scholarship holders Shaun Norris and Justin Eveson played pivotal roles in the WA sides fortune, with the club looking to record a fourth consecutive title.

The Wheelcats thumped Sydney 102-64 in the first match of their doubleheader, with Norris hitting 35 points and Eveson chipping in with 22 points, 21 rebounds and 11 assists in a dominant all court display.

The match as a contest was over by quarter time with the WA outfit stretching to a 28-8 lead at the break.

The Wheelcats continued their dominance in game two with a 48 point victory over Sydney. Norris again put Sydney into damage limitation, with another 35 point haul combined with 16 assists and 19 rebounds. Eveson contributed 14 points.

A week earlier, Perth made similar light work of the Brisbane Spinning Bullets at the Herb Graham Recreation Centre.

Justin Eveson was again in dominant mood for the Wheelcats in match one, hitting 27 points and 15 rebounds in Perth’s 95-43 victory.

With the absence of injured Paralympic gold medallist Shaun Norris, the Wheelcats proved they had depth in quality, winning the second clash with Brisbane 89-49. Eveson’s statistics made for good reading, with the Wheelcats star scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
