Comfortable Win
9 November 2009

We had a very comfortable 13 – 8 victory over CN Martianez this round. We started strongly taking the first two goals (Perimetre Goal, Penalty) and continued to dictate play until late in the final quarter.

From the start of the game through to the final four minutes, Martianez only managed to score four goals. A few silly lapses and some unnecessary exclusions in the final minutes allowed Martianez to convert an additional four goals. Prior to this the score was 12 – 4 to us.

Despite this being the case, there were a few crucial moments in the second quarter, which allowed for us to extend our lead and have the game ‘snowball' in our favour.

We were able to score two counter attack goals and an extraman goal (drawn from a counter attack) where Martianez probably should have converted at our end. Had this been the case, the game could have either been level, or, one goal in their favour at half time. Anyone who's played knows this can change the result of a game. Furthermore, Martianez's first goalkeeper (Cuban goalkeeper) did not play.

Nevertheless, showing a capacity to scrutinise the opposition's mistakes is very important. I was very happy to see my teammates score off Martianez's misfortune.

Next time we play on their turf. We must remember these moments in the second quarter and, more importantly, the final four minutes if we're to succeed again. There's no team in this league who we can afford to underestimate.
