The Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) has an opportunity for a Cycling Head Coach to join a World Class Sports Institute that values People and Excellence. WAIS's role in the Track Cycling pathway is to graduate athletes to the Australia Cycling Team. 


The Head Coach leads, manages, drives and coaches the daily training environment for WAIS athletes, within a Nationally aligned cycling program, with the objective to:


  • Achieve agreed targets for annual athlete performance expectations;
  • Achieve agreed athlete progression in line with the National Athlete Categorisation Framework and developmental targets;
  • Implement high quality athlete plans;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Cycling Australia and WestCycle to ensure the program is aligned with the direction of the National Performance Targets.

To be considered for this position, the following experience and qualifications are required;

  • Appropriate Coaching qualification/license as defined by Cycling Australia and the position of the program in the Cycling Australia High Performance Pathway;
  • A relevant undergraduate qualification is highly desirable;
  • Australian Working With Children’s Check
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully progressing athletes through the High Performance cycling pathway;
  • Devising and executing a long term training and competition plan to guide the development of elite cycling athletes;
  • Appropriate level of coaching experience appropriate for the role of the WAIS cycling program in Cycling Australia’s High Performance Pathway.


This is a full-time position, with a contract period to December 31 2020. Salary range for this position is $86, 993 to $103,874, and will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
