The WAIS Athletics Program operates a daily training environment in Pole Vault and Throws (javelin, shot put, discus), whilst also supporting track and field athletes in disciplines outside of these specialist areas through its Individual Athlete Scholarship (IAS).
The focus of the WAIS Athletics Program is based on developing athletes with the capability to represent Australia at benchmark events, both now and in the future. Scholarships are offered based on performance, potential to progress and Champion behaviours,
with all WAIS athletes given support through access to sport science services,
sport medicine, personal excellence; and Sport Program athletes given access to
This support is structured through a dedicated WAIS Performance Enhancement Team (PET), with all members of the PET working together to collaboratively enhance performance of WAIS program athletes.
The WAIS Athletics Program is partnered through a strategic alignment with its National Sporting Organisation (NSO) and State Sporting Organisation (SSO) stakeholders: Athletics Australia and Athletics Western Australia.
