Athlete and Coach Services incorporates the service areas listed below that deliver key scientific and support services to coaches and elite athletes to assist them to achieve maximum performance.
Athlete Career and Education (ACE)
ACE provides career and education counselling services to enhance the personal development and performance of Australia’s elite athletes.
Sports Medicine
WAIS offers access to specialised services of practitioners experienced in the field of Sports Medicine for elite athletes.
Strength and Conditioning
This service provides state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, as well as highly qualified staff, centred on optimising athletic performance, through construction and supervision of physical condition programs.
Talent Identification
The Smarter than Smoking WAIS Talent Search is the WA division of the National Talent Identification and Development program, 'Talent Search'. The Smarter than Smoking message in the name reflects the program's significant sponsorship by Healthway and Heart Foundation.
Sport Science
The Sport Science range of services on offer is extensive. The following disciplines, with over six full time and several part-time staff, provide all WAIS athletes and coaches with access to cutting edge techniques and information.

Athlete and Coach Services Staff
Martin FitzSimons, Athlete and Coach Services Manager
Martin is responsible for the overall management of the Athlete and Coach Services, which includes Sport Science department, ensuring key sport science services are available to all coaches and are working to maximum effect for the benefit of all athletes.
