The National ACE program is delivered through the Australian network of State Institutes and Academies of Sport and at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). WAIS’s ACE program began in 1995 providing a service which is available to all athletes and consistent with WAIS’s aim to: "provide opportunities for young West Australians to further develop their sporting careers in association with, or as part of, their education or work."
It was recognised that in order for athletes to be fully successful and to be able to integrate themselves back into society at the end of their sporting career, a balanced approach to training and competition, incorporating career and education planning was essential. The objective of ACE is to enhance the personal development and performance of Australia’s elite athletes through the provision of career and education counselling.
